Online Safety

Online Safety @ Appletree
Here at Appletree we encourage our learners to be safe and responsible users of technology.

The term Online Safety is not limited to children's use of the internet it also encompasses their use of other electronic devices such as phones, games consoles, email and iPads or tablets.
Through our robust computing curriculum, and in other aspects of school life, children are taught how to stay safe online and what to do in situations when they feel unsafe or unsure. Our curriculum is further enhanced through assemblies and taking part in annual National and Global events such as Safer Internet Day and Anti Bullying week.

Staff are kept up to date with E-safety training provided by ICT Specialists at North Tyneside City Learning Centre.

Child online safety during lockdown
With children spending more time on the internet during lockdown, it's more important that ever for parents and carers and their children to know the best reporting and support routes, should they be worried about something online.
The Be Internet Legends programme is designed to teach your child the skills they need to stay safe and have a positive time online. Your involvement at home can really help reinforce these key messages to help your child become more confident when exploring the online world
This page has been created to support parents during COVID-19 and the closure of schools.  Each fortnight, we will be releasing new home activity packs with simple 15 minute activities you can do with your child to support their online safety at a time when they will be spending more time online at home.
