Geography

Intent :

At Appletree Gardens First School, our children learn Geography skills that will remain with them as they grow into respectable citizens. We ensure all of our children:

  • Are curious and fascinated about the world and its people.
  • Respect one another and have knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments.
  • Create a deep understanding of the Earth's key physical and human processes.
  • Deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes and the formation and use of landscapes and environments.

We want our children to make a difference to the world that we live in. They will understand the value of recycling; understand how they can all make a difference to our climate and environment.  They will leave us equipped to be responsible citizens.

Confident learners are good learners, our children have opportunities to develop their confidence and grow into the best person they want to be.

Implementation:

We teach the National Curriculum for KS1 and KS2, to view it please click here.

All year groups have school trips exploring and learning about the local environment. Children regularly visit areas of varying landscapes, making the most of our beautiful coastline on the North Sea.
